A report from TMZ says that YG was “afraid police would hurt him if he exited the vehicle.”YG was stopped by police Wednesday night where he reportedly refused to exit his vehicle to ensure his safety, according to TMZ. Citing “law enforcement sources,” the report states that the Compton rapper was stopped in Burbank due to the tinted windows on his Maybach. After being asked for his license and registration, YG is said to have replied “no.” When asked to exit the vehicle he reportedly once again answered “no,” as well as telling the cops he “didn’t trust them,” and was “afraid police would hurt him” if he got out of his car.
The TMZ story says that YG eventually agreed to exit his car after “a bunch of patrol cars raced to the scene for backup.” He was cited for not having ID, his tinted windows, and having no license plates.
YG has yet to publicly comment on the alleged interaction with police.
YG has previously addressed police brutality in his music, most notably on “Police Get Away With Murder,” the powerful closing track from his 2016 sophomore album Still Brazy.
